Adding cupholders to your dentside.

Postby FORDification » Fri Mar 18, 2016 6:15 pm

On the old forums, 'kbldawg' posted the following pics of a cool addition to his truck. He found that some late-'80s Ch*vy pickups have a fold-up add-on cupholder mounted to the front of the dash, and with a minor mods (and a little paint) they work quite well in a dentside pickup.

I was making a run to the local salvage yard, and decided to see if I could find one of the cupholders myself, and was fortunate enough to find one in an '87. Here are a couple pre-removal shots:

This cupholder is hooked to the dash in the middle and then attached with screws to the bottom of the dash panel. I'll have to get out the Dremel and reshape the sides of this to match the contour of the Ford's lower dash area, and then figure out some way of discreetly attaching the top.
